Sue Ellen Schroeder, first female inducted into the Sac-n-Fox Lodge and first female Vigil member of the Lodge, age 64 of Waterloo, died Sunday, July 15, 2012, following a lengthy battle with cancer.

She was born August 27, 1947, in Waterloo, the daughter of Frank Damuth and Lena Josephine Snodgrass Lemper. Sue graduated from Waterloo West high School with the Class of 1965. She was united in marriage with Richard M. “Schultze” Schroeder on July 12, 1969. He preceded her in death on February 13, 2008.

Sue worked at the Sears Store in Waterloo for 25 years. She then worked for the Winnebago Scout Council office until retiring in 2003. Sue was a member of Cedar Bible Church in Cedar Falls. She enjoyed spending time with her family camping in Minnesota, sewing with the quilting group at First Baptist Church in Waterloo and playing a good game of Bingo. Sue gave the gift of life by being an Iowa Lion’s Eye Bank Donor.

Survivors include 2 sons, Michael (Nicole) Schroeder of Independence, Iowa, and David (Angela) Schroeder of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; 5 grandchildren, Madison, Mackenzie, Sydney, Kylie, and Caleb; 2 brothers Frank (Fran) Lemper of Waterloo and Tim (Cathy) Lemper of Florida; and 2 brothers-in-law, Leon (Nancy) Rickard of Delhi, Iowa, and Jack (Denise) Schoeder of Lawton, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and a sister, Julie Rickard.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, July 19, 2012, at Cedar Bible Church, 717 Green Avenue, Cedar Falls, with burial in Cedar Valley Memorial Gardens. Public visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Wednesday at Garden View Chapel Funeral Home and after 9:30 a.m. Thursday at the church.
