9/11 Day of Service and Remembrance

9/11 Day of Service and Remembrance

ATTN: Nonprofit Organizations and Volunteer Programs,

September 11 is just around the corner and we would greatly appreciate your involvement in this National Day of Service and Remembrance as well as ongoing participation in the Volunteer Iowa: A Call to Serve initiative.

We do not want to cause any additional burden for your organization by asking you to quickly coordinate and host September 11 specific projects, but if you are already planning volunteer opportunities that will be available on that date, we strongly encourage you to post them online so that we have plenty of opportunities available for people in your community to help make a difference.

There are many benefits for organizations that participate:

  • Raising community awareness about your organization
  • Engaging volunteers who may become loyal supporters
  • Completing tasks and collecting donations to help meet community needs
  • Publicity for participating in a statewide service day

We invite you to view a special letter from Governor Branstad and Lt. Governor Reynolds at http://volunteer.truist.com/icovs/images/cache/000/010/537/327/10537327285.pdf.

Instructions for posting your information online (including who to contact if you need assistance) are available by clicking on the Submit Your 9/11 Projects button at www.volunteeriowa.org.

Yours in Service,
Iowa Commission on Volunteer Service
