Overview
The (original) Internet Advancement platform was closed June 10, 2019 for use by Packs, Troops, Crews, and Ships. This platform is still available for use by Explorer Posts. This update is announced on the Logon Screen and if a unit tries to login or create an account, they will be redirected to a landing page with additional explanation on the changes.
Impact
The new Internet Advancement platform is a completely updated experience, while retaining many features used with original Internet Advancement. Unit Key 3, Key 3 Delegates, and unit Advancement Chairs will be able to link from Scoutbook or from my.Scouting. The Single-Sign On (SSO) uses my.Scouting credentials for ease of access. Packs, Troops, Crews and Ships will use the new platform.
The direct URL for Internet Advancement is http://scoutbook.scouting.org.
The Frequently Asked Questions page is at help.scoutbook.com and should be reviewed by Council employees who support unit Advancement reporting and tracking.
How it Works
The unit’s Key 3 (Cubmaster, Scoutmaster, Charter Organization Rep, Committee Chairman) are the current roles who have access to the new Internet Advancement system right now. One of the registered Key 3 will need to follow the steps below to set up the Internet Advancement account for the unit.
Here are the instructions on how to add a key 3 delegate:
- Go to my.scouting.org
- Menu (Top left corner)
- Click Troop
- Click Organization Security Manager
- Assign key 3 delegate
