Winnebago Council COVID-19 Update – 3/18/2020

Dear Winnebago Scouting Family,

The following information regarding local events and prevention measures is based on the latest available guidance. As this is an evolving situation, this information is subject to change. We will continue to update you on relevant developments and we appreciate your understanding of any necessary adjustments in the interest of health and safety.

In the meantime, should you have any questions or concerns about a specific upcoming event or activity please reach out to your district executive. We will do everything we can to answer your question(s) using the information available to us.

In addition to the information and tools you received earlier this week, I want to inform you of a few key measures we are taking to protect Winnebago Council employees, volunteers, and supporters which will ensure our important work in support of Scouting’s mission continues.

With the first confirmed case of Travel Related COVID-19 in Black Hawk County, our efforts have now escalated based on guidance from the CDC, local health department, and our commitment to do everything we can to protect our employees and limit the impact of this disease within our community.

Please be advised starting March 19, 2020, until April 1, we are implementing the following changes:

  • The Winnebago Council Service Center is closed to the general public from March 19 until April 1, 2020.
  • Council professional staff will still be working and available via their cell phones and through email. Given the current situation, we are making a temporary adjustment so that all employees can work remotely if they so wish.
  • The Winnebago Council National Scout Shop in Waterloo will be closed starting March 19 and re-opening April 1, 2020.
  • The Mason City Scout Shop operated by the Winnebago Council will be closed starting March 19 and re-opening April 1, 2020.
  • Face-to-face Camp Staff interviews scheduled for Saturday, March 21st have been cancelled.
  • Virtual Video interviews will be conducted Tuesday, March 24th from 4-6PM.
  • All interested candidates should email their completed Camp Staff Application to Whitney Jensen at [email protected] as soon as possible.
  • We will set up interview times and video conferencing with each candidate as they are received.
  • If you have any questions about Summer Camp Staff please send your questions to Whitney at the email above along with your contact information.

Yours in Safe Scouting,
