September is Iowa Family Preparedness Month

Each year the Iowa Homeland Security and Emergency Management Division sponsors Family Preparedness Month in Iowa. This year their theme is “Pledge to Prepare”, and they are asking Iowans to take a pledge to be more prepared for emergencies and disasters.

This year they’re sponsoring a contest where Iowans may submit their pledge into a drawing or they can record and submit a short video to be entered into a contest. Prizes will be awarded for both the drawing and the contest (Target gift cards and emergency supply kits).

You can read more about Family Preparedness Month on their website www.beready.iowa.gov. Activities kick off September 4th, and they will have details posted by that day. The video contest ends September 20 and the drawing closes September 30th.
