James Ritter, a sophomore at West High in Waterloo and member of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, Cedar Falls, designed and managed the building of an outdoor labyrinth on the property of St. Luke’s as an Eagle Scout project.
This tremendous effort involved grading the site, constructing a retaining wall, and setting pavers for the labyrinth and a path to it.
The project was accomplished over several months with the assistance of over 80 volunteers that put in over 950 volunteer hours and donations from local companies.
St. Luke’s members will further enhance the area with landscaping and stone benches.
The new labyrinth will be a place for individual and corporate meditation and worship. The St. Luke’s community is exploring opportunities to share this resource with the Cedar Falls community.
