Program Update for December of 2012

July 1-6 Week of Boy Scout Resident Camp Cancelled. The Tentative week of Summer Camp that was scheduled for July 1-6 at Ingawanis Adventure Base has been cancelled due to lack of interest. The Winnebago Council will still offer the originally scheduled three weeks of Boy Scout Resident Camp at Ingawanis Adventure Base.

Camp Staff wanted for 2013. We are looking for staff members to help staff Boy Scout and Cub Scout Resident Camps for this summer. Application forms are available on the council website www.winnebagobsa.org or by calling Camp Director Chris Kangas at 319-234-2867. We are looking for adult and youth staff members for a variety of positions.

Camp Staff Reunion in January. Calling all former staff members from Winnebago Scout Reservation and Ingawanis Adventure Base! We are having an all-staff reunion on Saturday, January 5th from 2-5 pm at the Waverly Bowl-Inn in Waverly. Come hang out with your old friends and reminisce about your favorite memories. No need to stay the whole time, but stop in and say hi.

Winter Activities Safety Reminder. Helmets are required in downhill skiing, snowboarding, and snowmobiling. For sledding, helmets are recommended but not required. Be especially aware of runoff areas and avoid having participants in areas where they can collide at high speeds. We realize that sliding activities may be impromptu, but that doesn’t mean you don’t need a plan for safe areas and proper equipment. Every year we hear of reports of serious injuries due to poor site inspection, lack of supervision, and not wearing helmets. Be safe and have fun!
