You’re Invited to Safe Kids Day!
Dr. Stacey Carlin is organizing a “Safe Kids Day” for October 26, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Lou Henry Elementary School. This event is being organized because she feels safety is a considerable concern for parents, community members, and business owners alike. The tone tone of the region has changed since the tragedy of the two Evansdale girls, and sadly they weren’t the only abductions or attempted abductions in the recent past. She believes the more involvement with parents and citizens will assist in making the Cedar Valley a safer place to raise a family.
“Safe Kids Day” is planned for Saturday, October 26th, 2013, the final Saturday prior to Halloween. Here’s what you can look forward to:
- Waterloo Fire Department will have ambulance, fire truck, and smoke trailer
- Waterloo Police Department will talk about crosswalk safety, stranger danger, etc.
- Safety with medication, sports and concussions, internet safety, car seat safety, poison control and more!
- Fun activities for the kids like caricatures, inflatable fun, face painting, balloon creations, performances from local gymnastic and dance groups, crafts, etc.
