Winnebago Council High Adventure

Winnebago Council High Adventure

There are lots of exciting things happening with High Adventure activities in Winnebago Council.

The current plan is to not have any High Adventure programs in 2013 due to the National Jamboree. If you have not gone in the past, do not miss this. The National Jamborees’ are always incredible. This will be the first year at Bechtel Summit. How often do you get to say you were at the first National Jamboree at a new site?

High Adventure Committee

I am looking at restarting the Council High Adventure Committee. The charge of this committee is to plan and coordinate the High Adventure activities of the council. If you have been on a High Adventure, if you are thinking of going on a High Adventure, or if you have an interest in High Adventures, please email me and join the committee! With all of the changes going on at the Council, this is an opportunity to reform and strengthen this committee.

We will be looking at planning future trips to OKPIK, SeaBase, Philmont and now Bechtel Summit.

Philmont 2012

We had 2 crews who went to Philmont in June. What an amazing trip! Both crews had lots of fun, saw incredible sites, and learned a LOT about themselves.

Philmont 2014

We are starting to get requests for 2014 treks. If a scout, adult or troop has an interest in a 2014 trek, please contact the scout office to put your name on our list. We will use this list to determine how many crews we will ask for in 2014. While it seems a long way away, we have to submit our request about 18 months in advance.

SeaBase 2014

We will not have any crews in 2013, but will plan trips in 2014.

High Adventure Planning:

We will have another High Adventure training session on January 26th, 2013. While a long way off, add this to your calendar. We will go over what you need to do to participate on a Council High Adventure and how a troop can prepare for their own High Adventure.
